With Spring fast approaching, it's time to think about outdoor photoshoots, on location! The California State Capitol building in Downtown Sacramento is one of Marilee's favorite outside shooting locations, perfect for pinup photos, glamour images, and more.

The images below were taken on the "main" or front side of the building, which features a covered, vaulted "porch" complete with massive wood doors and black-and-white marble flooring. Cherry D'Lish and LilSmyles wear beautiful vintage-style dresses while Catherine Morland (that's me!) wears a late-1860s reproduction dress, and all look perfectly at home there.

As the building was designed and built in the 1860s, anything vintage or antique-looking will fit right in, but so will something ultra-modern or fantasy-based. The flooring gives the effect of a grand interior, while the arches reveal otherwise. The grand stone arches and vaults - and particularly the "checkerboard" flooring - would be super for something Alice in Wonderland-themed, or any scene bringing the outdoors "in."

I found Marilee on Instagram and fell in love with her portfolio of work. I decided to collaborate with Marilee as a way of treating myself. I always loved pinup and vintage, and Marilee’s execution was spot on!

Merri's favorite shoot...

There are so many to choose from throughout the years from indoors and outdoors, themed sets to simplistic, but my favorite was our photoshoot with the trains. It was a perfect sunny day with a beautiful location. I had so much fun shooting, and it was a great way to celebrate the end of summer.
